Yes, Children with Behavioral Challenges Can Successfully Belong

Being disability inclusive takes intentional work to ensure that ALL are successful. But…. we recognize some children may present as more challenging and may require a different mindset and strategies to set them up for successful participation in your recreation program. Let’s break it down with best practices you can embrace that follow positive support techniques, allowing us to strip the label of “behavior kid”, letting their gifts and talents shine to become a valued member of your community who BELONGS. From working with families and tips for an effective intake process, to staff training and strategies on dealing with challenging behaviors, attendees will leave with the tools and confidence to reduce (or even better ELIMINATE) suspension practices within your recreation programs.

3:30 – 4:00 Final Remarks
