11:15–12:00 Beyond “Kumbaya” – The Importance of Camp Songs to the Rec Camp Experience Incorporating camp songs and games with music, music and movement can make the camp experience even better and more memorable for campers. Transition times, meal and snack times, field trips (and especially when the bus is late), down time, overnights etc. are enhanced through silly camp songs, games, and movement. And YOU don’t have to be a great (or even good) singer to teach songs and get campers to sing-along. This session will review the why, where, when, and how of incorporating singing and music into the Rec Camp setting.

As park and recreation professionals, we are privileged to be the stewards of taxpayer dollars. Each and every day we get to spend their money. What a responsibility!

We hold in our hands the power to impact communities by how we manage these resources. How we spend, how we generate revenues, and how we work to create a financially sustainable future for our organizations and for the field of parks and recreation.

Together we can create a movement to strengthen financial acumen in parks and recreation - one person and one agency at a time. This eye-opening and engaging experience will be one you won’t forget.
